Show Notes: The Future of Healthcare Design with Jennifer Fink (Podcast)
For the Gensler Design Exchange podcast’s inaugural episode, Tama Duffy Day (Gensler’s Firmwide Health & Wellness Practice Area Leader) explores how great design is impacting health. In this episode, Tama talks with Jennifer Fink, the Director of Planning and Interiors for Lehigh Valley Health Network (LHVN), a healthcare system located in Eastern Pennsylvania. Jennifer holds an MBA in business administration, is an American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers certificate holder, and is a lean green belt from the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
The Lehigh Valley Health Network is located in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. They have three full-sized hospitals, a children’s hospital, community health centers and have more than 1,300 primary care physicians. They provide pharmacy imaging, home health hospice, and community clinics, and are located one hour away from New York City.
Tama and Jennifer discuss LHVN’s approach to issues like community health and land acquisition, how Lehigh Valley is looking at delivering healthcare “beyond the hospital bed” and the ability of design to impact physician burnout. Finally, Tama and Jennifer touch on the future of hospitals and the rising importance of ambulatory care centers.
