UNIVISION 23 AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO KICK OFF ELEVENTH ANNUAL “CLUB DE LIBROS 23” CAMPAIGN

MIAMI, FL – SEPTEMBER 25, 2012 – WLTV Univision 23 will be hosting its eleventh annual “Club de Libros 23” (Univision 23’s Book Club) campaign in support of its Es el momento education efforts that seek to bring to light the fundamental educational benefits of reading. The campaign, which will be working in conjunction with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, kicks-off on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Emerson Elementary School, located at 8001 S.W. 36 Street in Miami, Florida.

To kick off the “Club de Libros 23” campaign, Beatriz Zarraluqui, District Director of the Division of Bilingual Education and World Languages, will be speaking in support of the campaign and the goals it sets to inspire and pave the path toward success for bilingual students.

The primary goal of the “Club de Libros 23” reading initiative in promoting Spanish-language literature is to highlight the ever-growing importance of bilingualism in today’s society. During the course of this academic school year, Univision 23’s education reporter, Maria Fernanda Lopez, will be making visits to several schools throughout the community in an effort to encourage students to read more frequently and thus enhance their capabilities to excel in both their academic and professional careers. Various Miami-Dade County Public Schools representatives will also be present during these events.
